Where is the best place to watch the Swansea air show?

This weekend all the drama will be in the skies above Swansea as the Wales Airshow 2019 takes place.

In one of the highlights of the year, hundreds of thousands of people are expected to descend on the city on Saturday, July 6 & Sunday, July 7 to catch a glimpse of the state-of-the-art military aircrafts and vintage planes.

Last year more than 250,000 visited for a weekend of spectacular views and amazing displays.

To be honest, you get a pretty decent vista from wherever you are - but where are the best, perhaps lesser-known spots?

Aberavon beach (Jonathan Myers)

Aberavon Beach

Not in Swansea, but from across the bay you will have a brilliant view of the displays. You'll also avoid all the traffic heading towards Swansea. A win-win situation.

Clyne Gardens, Mayals

One of the highest spots nearest the beach, Clyne Gardens offer scenic surroundings and plenty of benches with perfect views looking towards the coast.

Pantycelyn Road, Townhill

Arguably the best view over Swansea you can get. Locals flock to the road and we can't blame them.

Verdi’s, Mumbles

The perfect place to plonk yourself for a day's entertainment. The sea breezes should help you keep cool, too.

Kilvey Hill, Kilvey

At 193 metres high, Kilvey Hill is probably one of the best spots to watch the aircraft arrive and depart.

Grape and Olive/Sky Bar, Meridian Quay

Wales' tallest building has to be one of the best places to be over the weekend. Make sure you've booked in advance though, as it is surely going to be very busy.

The Secret, Swansea seafront

One of the city's newest bars, The Secret offers incredible views over the bay making it the ideal spot to enjoy the show.

Victoria Park, Brynmill

Just a short distance from where all the action is taking place, you'll be able to catch a glimpse from inside Victoria Park.

(Mumbles Pier)

Mumbles Pier

The historic landmark has unbeatable views across Swansea so you won't miss any of the excitement over the weekend.

Jersey Park, Port Tennant

Situated high on a hill in Port Tennant, Jersey Park is definitely a great spot to watch the aircraft fly over the bay.
