Where is Ryan Tubridy? RTE’s top star signs off from airwaves as two new presenters take over

Ryan Tubridy signed off and said his farewells on the airwaves last week as he announced he is taking a break from his radio show.

The presenter told listeners that he will be back on air in a few weeks but that Friday would be his final radio show of the month.

After a busy year fronting the Late Late Show and his daily RTE Radio One show, the popular host said he is taking some summer holidays to unwind before he is set to return for another busy season in the autumn.

RTE confirmed to Irish Mirror that Ryan will be off the air for three weeks, and confirmed there will be two replacements filling in for the popular broadcaster.

The first two weeks will see comic Oliver Callan take the helm.

During their chat Ryan Tubridy described his Late Late Show suits as "armour" (RTÉ)

Meanwhile, RTE have confirmed that DIY SOS host Baz Ashmawy will be taking over for the third week.

Before heading off, Ryan told listeners: “I'm packing my bags and getting out of your hair for a few weeks.

“And by the time I get back I’ll be heading towards the reality of Late Late Show and Toy Show, and everything else that is going to happen when schools come back and relative, I hope, normality and audiences and excitement.

“But before that, I've got a heap of books I want to get through and read and relax and turn it all off. Go off grid for a little while and enjoy the liberty of that.”

It comes as the 48-year-old took two weeks back in June, to ‘recharge’ after a busy few months on TV before the Late Late Show season wrapped up in May.

At the time, Tubs admitted he had run out of gas after a hectic few weeks and was longing for the much needed break.

However, he returned to the airwaves full of life after his break where he enjoyed the ‘trip of a lifetime’ as he climbed Carrauntoohil.

His trip came as the season of the Late Late Show came to a close.

Before leaving, he said he needed to recharge, admitting he had been running out of gas after a busy few months.

He said: "I'm not going to lie to you, I'm kinda running out of gas, that's the truth of it."
