BBC 's Noughts and Crosses is our latest TV addiction thanks to the gripping drama and breathtaking backdrops.
The TV adaptation of Malorie Blackman's novel follows the story of star crossed lovers Sephy (Masali Baduza) and Callum (Jack Rowan), as they navigate a society where racism divides people into one of two categories - Noughts or Crosses.
Although the series is set in an alternate world in the city of Albion, the backdrops weren't created in studios but rather filmed on location.
The cast and crew headed to South Africa for filming, predominantly shooting scenes in Cape Town and surrounding regions.
For example, the Cape Town docks were used for plenty of exterior shots, while various streets and locations across the city centre also provided the settings for a majority of the action.
Meanwhile, the Castle of Good Hope took on the role of the Aprica Military Academy in the series. The 17th century bastion fort had everything the crew needed to create the academy where Callum is enrolled during the drama.
It's no wonder that Cape Town was on the crew's radar - it has heaps of incredible places to visit with beautiful backdrops from sandy beaches to awe-inspiring mountains.
When it came to picturesque countryside backdrops, filming headed to the Constantia Wine Route which is famed for its lush green mountains and sweeping landscapes filled with vineyards.
It was here that production found a luxurious house which they used for the Hadley family mansion (where Sephy lives).
The region sits about 15km outside of Cape Town's city centre, and is a popular wine tourism destination.
South Africa has been the setting for a series of popular UK shows in recent months, having offered up backdrops for series including Love Island, Made in Chelsea, Our Girl and the Bachelor UK.
