Where is Montenegro in Europe and what is the population?

After thrashing Czech Republic 5-0 at Wembley in London on Friday evening, the England team has travelled to Europe to play Montenegro.

The two teams kick-off at 7:45pm on Monday night in Montenegro and it will be England's second EURO 2020 qualifier in four days. The other teams the Three Lions will face in Group A are Bulgaria and Kosovo.

Montenegro, Kosovo and Bulgaria are all next to each other on the map in a somewhat satisfying line.

Where is Montenegro?

Montenegro is in southeastern Europe and is often considered to be on of the countries in the Balkan Peninsukla.

It is on the Adriatic sea and borders Bosnia and Herzegovina to the north; Serbia and Kosovo to the east, Albania to the south and Croatia to the west.

How big is Montenegro?

Not particularly big at all. It covers an area of 13,812 square kilometres. According to a 2011 consensus it has a population of 620,079.

To get some idea of scope, Greater Manchester has a population of nearly 2.8 million.

Where is the England game?

Montenegro vs England is being played in the capital city Podgorica at the Podgorica City Stadium which has a modest capacity of 15,230. Reconstruction works are planned over the next few years to take the capacity up to 18,000 and eventually over 20,000.

Where are Montenegro ranked?

According to the current FIFA world rankings, Montenegro are ranked 46 in the world, ahead of Bulgaria and behind Nigeria.
