Where is Denis Suarez? Why Spaniard was not in Arsenal squad against Watford

Denis Suarez has had a tough time since moving to Arsenal on loan in January.

The Barcelona playmaker was the subject of a lengthy transfer window chase before eventually agreeing a temporary deal at the Emirates with a view to a permanent move in the summer.

Yet Suarez has struggled to make an impression in north London, failing to start a competitive game and being restricted to only 67 minutes spread across four substitute appearances in the Premier League.

He was left out of the Gunners' squad entirely as they headed to Watford for a crucial game for their top four hopes on Monday leading to questions surrounding his future.

But according to the Daily Mail , Suarez is struggling with a persistent groin injury which flared up and caused physios to keep him out.

What Troy Deeney told Unai Emery after red card following Lucas Torreira clash

The 25-year-old is said to have been struggling with pain and inflammation during training sessions in recent weeks leading to his workload being decreased to try and manage the issue.

The news is a serious blow as he fights to convince Unai Emery to pull the trigger and make his transfer permanent in the summer.

He is set to hold talks with Emery on Tuesday regarding how his injury will be managed in training, with fears it may be a sports hernia injury.

Arsenal fans make 'cojones' jibe at Troy Deeney following red card

Suarez is said to be keen to try a short period of rest to allow the problem to resolve itself if possible, with his pain said to be most intense when twisting or quickly turning.

It appears he will be available to play if needed during the remainder of the season, but he was not risked against Watford and looks set to be resigned to a bit-part role unless something major changes over the coming weeks.
