  • A yellow heat health alert has been issued by the UK Health Security Agency over concerns the hot weather could have an impact across health and social care services.
  • Despite the heat, rain is forecast to arrive, starting in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland on Saturday evening before spreading across the UK on Sunday.
  • Met Office chief forecaster Steve Willington said the rainfall will be “light and mainly concentrated in the north and west.”
  • The anticipated rain follows an exceptionally dry spell, leading to hosepipe bans in parts of South East England and West Wales, with calls for households to limit water use.
