Throughout the UK floral tributes have been left for Queen Elizabeth II - and this will continue throughout the period of mourning.
For those who are not able to get to a Royal residence such as Balmoral in Scotland or Buckingham Palace in London, there are numerous places around our region where flowers are being welcomed. These range across Northumberland, North Tyneside, Newcastle, Gateshead, South Tyneside and County Durham.
We already know that the Newcastle Civic Centre and the Millennium Bridge will continue to be illuminated in purple, while a range of vigils and ceremonies are to take place across the region. Over the weekend, events proclaiming King Charles will also be held.

Many will want to lay floral tributes - in general the local councils in our region are encouraging these at specific places, notably war memorials, and urging the public to be mindful of the environment and remove cellophane from any tributes.
This is where you can leave flowers for Queen Elizabeth II in our region:
Newcastle
As a mark of respect, Civic flags are being flown at half-mast and books of condolence will be opened at the City Library and at the Civic Centre. Floral tributes can also be left on Ceremonial Way at the Civic Centre.
Gateshead
In Gateshead, tributes are encourage at Saltwell Park's Field of Remembrance during the park's opening hours.
North Tyneside
There are a range of locations in North Tyneside where you can lay flowers. These include at the Quadrant building - the council's central office - at the foot of the Union flag, and at the bandstand in Wallsend's Richardson Dees Park.
Beyond that, you can leave flowers in Whitley Bay at the foot of the Tommy memorial in the circular planted area at the Spanish City Dome, at Northumberland Park bandstand, and at the Post-1945 War Memorial at the White Swan Centre in Killingworth.
South Tyneside
In South Tyneside, flowers can also be left by the Queen Victoria statue outside South Shields Town Hall.
Northumberland
Across the county of Northumberland there are a range of locations to leave flowers. These include most of the major towns - such as Alnwick, Morpeth and Hexham. The link here will continue to be updated by the county council, which has invited well-wishers to lay flowers as a mark of respect.
Sunderland
In Sunderland, the policy is that flowers should be laid at Mowbray Park bandstand in Sunderland city centre. Flowers will be left in place until the day following the end of the mourning period. Flowers will be checked daily and any wilting and dead flowers removed.
County Durham
Floral tributes can also be left at Chester-le-Street Market Place, Bishop Auckland Town Hall, Millennium Place in Durham City, at the front of Crook Civic Centre, Consett War Memorial and outside The Witham at Barnard Castle.
