The mother of the Panesar brothers Jags, Vinny and Kheerat, and their sister Ash, she's taken over Walford as the new matriarch.

In fact, Balvinder has a vast soap history, having been in all four major British soaps - with EastEnders being the latest.

Balvinder has starred in Hollyoaks, Coronation Street and Emmerdale in an array of different roles and storylines.

That was in 2018, and that same year she starred as the police officer who arrested Debbie Dingle over Ross Barton's acid attack in Emmerdale.

She also appeared in two other roles on the ITV soap, as a Legal Aid Solicitor in 2009 and then another police officer in 2014.

But it isn't just soaps you may recognise Balvinder from as she's starred in other well known shows.

Actress Balvinder Sopal has also been in Emmerdale (ITV)

In 2018 she played Mumtaz Gani in Call The Midwife, and in the same year she starred in BBC daytime soap Doctors.
