Where does Vikings coach Mike Zimmer rank in coach power rankings?

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer is considered one of the better coaches in the NFL, despite his team failing to make the playoffs last season

In a recent head coach power ranking piece over at NFL.com, Zimmer ranks 10th, and first among coaches in the NFC North.

In five years as coach, Zimmer holds a 47-32-1 record and has made the playoffs twice, making the NFC Championship in 2017.

Zimmer’s a defensive-minded coach and his defense has always been above-average per Pro-Football Reference, while his offense has been below average in three of five seasons — including last season, the first of Kirk Cousins’ time in Minnesota.

Of course, as an NFL head coach, you’re responsible for everything.

There’s a lot of pressure on Zimmer as we head towards the 2019 season. The Vikings were considered Super Bowl favorites by many, and disappointed with an 8-7-1 record, failing to make the playoffs.

The Vikings extended Zimmer’s contract to the 2020 season, but if the team fails to make the playoffs again, we’ll see if the finally season is fulfilled.
