Where does the Eagles’ Jordan Howard rank among NFL running backs?

The Philadelphia Eagles upgraded the running back situation in a huge way when the team acquired Jordan Howard from the Bears for a late round pick. If Howard can get back the mojo that allowed him to have the third most rushing yardage over the past three seasons, the Eagles could be headed back to the Super Bowl.

USA Today’s Touchdown Wire recently revealed a ranking of the top 32 running backs in the game, and Howard landed in the middle of the pack, being named the 17th best back in the league.

Per Barry Werner

The Philadelphia Eagles added a strong presence to their running game when they picked up Jordan Howard. He had 3,370 yards rushing and 24 TDs in his first three seasons as a Bear. If he averages those kinds of stats in his first year in Philly, the Eagles will be prime playoff contenders.

Coming in ahead of Howard was the Patriots Sony Michel. The top 15 of the list reads like of a whos-who of ball carriers, including James Conner at No. 15, Marlon Mack at No. 14, Adrian Peterson at No 13, Chris Carson at No. 12 and the Cardinals David Johnson, at No. 11. The top 10 of the list included Joe Mixon, Derrick Henry at No. 9, Nick Chubb at No. 8, Todd Gurley at No. 7, and the Chargers Melvin Gordon at No. 6.

Rounding out the top five were Le’Veon Bell, Saquon Barkley at No. 4, Ezekiel Elliott at No. 3, Carolina’s Christian McCaffrey at No. 2, with the Saints Alvin Kamara, snagging the top spot.
