With Patrick Mahomes signing a 10-year deal worth up to $504 million contract extension with the Chiefs on Monday, I might have spent more time than I should looking at player contracts from around the league.
One question I had was where Kirk Cousins ranked among quarterbacks for salary in 2020.
Cousins’ base salary for the 2020 season is just $9.5 million, which ranks ninth among quarterbacks. However, Cousins will earn $40 million in total cash (which includes bonuses) which ranks second in the league behind only Seattle’s Russell Wilson who is set to make $53 million.
Cousin signed a two-year, $66 million extension with the Vikings the offseason keeping him with the team until 2023.
Cousins has already made more than $100 million during his career. After the 2022 season, that number will be $196 million.
To round out the NFC North, Aaron Rodgers ranks 13th in total cash at $21.55 million, Matthew Stafford ranks 22nd at $8.3 million and Nick Foles ranks 23rd at $8 million.
