With the fourth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the New York Giants selected offensive tackle Andrew Thomas out of Georgia.
It was no surprise to see the Giants address their offensive line in Round 1 — it was something that was widely anticipated for months leading up to the draft. However, some were surprised that they went with Thomas instead of one of the other top four tackles.
Among those who were taken aback was our friend Luke Easterling of Draft Wire, who recently broke down all 32 first-round picks based on value. In order to determine said value, Easterling compared each player’s draft position to their ranking on the Draft Wire top 300 big board.
Of the 32 first-round pick, only 14 were given a positive value. Thomas was not one of them.

Comparatively, offensive tackles Tristan Wirfs (Tampa Bay Buccaneers, pick No. 13) and Jedrick Wills (Cleveland Browns, pick No. 10) fell into the positive range. Offensive tackle Mekhi Becton (New York Jets, pick No. 11) did not, but still earned a better value rating (-2) than Thomas.
The best overall value went to offensive lineman Cesar Ruiz (New Orleans Saints, pick No. 24), who earned a +8, while the worst value went to cornerback A.J. Terrell (Atlanta Falcons, pick No. 16), who earned a -48.
