Where does Georgia land CFP rankings after win over Florida?

The Georgia Bulldogs won their second top ten match-up of the season tonight against the Florida Gators. Georgia has played a tough schedule and it doesn’t get much easier for the Dawgs. Georgia faces the Missouri Tigers at home next Saturday night, then travels to Auburn before hosting Texas A&M in their last SEC game. Georgia finishes their regular season with a trip to Atlanta against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, who are 2-6 now.

Where do the Bulldogs stack up with the rest of college football? It depends who you ask. Media voters weren’t kind to the Dawgs after their stunning overtime loss at home against unranked South Carolina, but College Football Playoff Committee’s opinion is the only one that matters now.

The Dawgs shouldn’t be top four yet based on their loss. Ahead of Georgia should be undefeated powerhouses LSU, Alabama, Ohio State, Penn State, and Clemson. Georgia should slide into the number six spot ahead of two PAC-12 teams: the Oregon Ducks and Utah Utes.

Both Oregon and Utah have solid resumes, but lack elite wins like Georgia. Georgia has wins over Notre Dame, who edged past Virginia Tech this week, and Florida, who has beaten Auburn. The same Auburn team beat Oregon in week one. Oregon and Utah share the same best win: a road win over Jacob Eason and the Washington Huskies.

The only one-loss team with a legitimate shot to be ranked over Georgia is the Oklahoma Sooners. The Sooners have a better loss than Georgia (a road game at 6-2 Kansas State) and have played a tough schedule. They beat Texas in their best win and have won in blowout fashion their other contests. The recency of their loss won’t play as much of a factor as it does for the AP and Coaches polls.
