Where do Panthers fans rank amongst NFL’s biggest comfort eaters?

It doesn’t feel good when the Carolina Panthers lose, does it? But you know what does? Yeah, drowning down your sorrows with some of your favorite eats.

A recent study from Bookies.com delved into the theory of consolation calories, where fans of losing teams tend to overeat following their teams’ defeats. The research from the 2020 campaign does, indeed, back that idea up. So it shouldn’t be much of a surprise that Panthers fans have landed into the higher end of the spectrum.

The report shows that Panthers fans potentially consumed 3,060 additional calories in post-game day meals, 5.31 percent more than the average American. That calorie change is the ninth-highest amongst all 32 fanbases from last season.

If you hadn’t noticed, yes, the correlation between losing and overeating is real. In fact, that list is essentially the 2021 NFL draft order.

At 5-11, the Panthers had their faithful reaching for seconds, perhaps thirds, during their largely distasteful year. Can you really blame them, though? Like, have you even tried that sweet, sweet Carolina barbecue?
