Eleven NFL teams still do not have a Super Bowl title. The Arizona Cardinals won an NFL championship in 1947 — two decades before the Super Bowl era — and came within a couple of minutes of a Super Bowl win, but they still seek their first.
Among those 11 teams still seeking their first championship, where do the Cardinals rank?
According to sister site Touchdown Wire writer Barry Werner, who ranked the 11 teams still without a Super Bowl title. Arizona is not ranked last despite being the worst team in the NFL in 2018.
The Cardinals come in at No. 10.
“All Kliff Kingsbury and Kyler Murray have to do to win the franchise’s first Super Bowl is go from worst to first,” Werner wrote. “It doesn’t appear to be happening in the near future.”
The fact the Cardinals aren’t last — that honor belongs to the Detroit Lions — is an accomplishment. They were the worst team in the league last year. They have the last-ranked head coach, in his first year in the NFL. They have a rookie quarterback.
They are due for a good turnaround, but they won’t be title contenders for at least a couple of seasons if all goes right.
