Where do all the deer go during Splendour Festival?

As Splendour Festival once again took over the grounds of Wollaton Park there were some notable absentees.

Namely, the deer.

The park's most famous residents (after Batman, of course) are usually spotted throughout the historic hall's sprawling grounds but there was no sign of any stags or does enjoying the likes of Manic Street Preachers, All Saints or The Specials on Saturday, July 20.

So where do they all go?

Well, they aren't rounded up, penned in or shipped off for a weekend away.

No, it turns out they just aren't fans of pop music, well any loud music to be fair.

As wild animals, the deer naturally know when to keep away from loud noises and a large number of people. So with this year's festival welcoming 30,000 people (including children and others who get in for free) for 10 hours of bangers the deer gave it a very wide berth.

The barriers around the Splendour site also help to stop any cavalier fawns sneaking in.

This year's festival was the biggest to date with all 25,000 tickets sold out in record time.

Plans for Splendour 2020 will be announced later in the year.
