Where did quarterback Michael Penix Jr. play before Washington?

Washington Huskies quarterback Michael Penix Jr. is having a standout season that includes throwing for the most passing yards in the FBS, being a Heisman Trophy finalist and leading his team to the College Football Playoff and national championship game.

But Penix — a potential first-round NFL Draft pick — didn’t start his college football career in Seattle.

The 23-year-old quarterback started playing college football for Indiana in 2018, and although he spent four seasons with the Hoosiers, they were plagued by multiple injuries, including two ACL tears.

Ahead of the 2022 college football season, Penix transferred from Indiana to Washington and found significant success with the Huskies. In his two seasons with Washington, he’s thrown for more than 9,000 yards and 66 touchdowns, and he put on an absolute clinic against No. 3 Texas in the College Football Playoff semifinal at the Sugar Bowl.
