Where Corrie fans have seen DS Lomas before as actress played same role two years ago

Coronation Street welcomed back DS Lomas to the ITV soap on Monday, as she investigated the car accident involving Sarah Platt and Gary Windass.

Sarah was running away from killer Gary after learning her ex had killed loan shark Rick Neelan last year.

She ran straight into the path of an oncoming car, leading to Gary pushing her out the way and getting hit himself.

As he continued to recover, Sarah lied to the police that she wasn't being chased and that Gary just happened to be there.

But as more and more failed to make sense, DS Lomas returned to question Sarah again.

There's a reason viewers may have recognised the character, as this isn't her first stint as the copper on the show.

In fact, two years ago actress Gail Kemp played the same role after the kidnap of baby Susie.

Johnny Connor was arrested and questioned by DS Lomas for the crime.

Two years on, and she's back interrogating residents.

Actress Gail has been on several other popular TV shows too, and two other soaps.

So if you think you've seen her somewhere else, there's a huge chance you have.

Gail played a judge earlier this year on fellow ITV soap Emmerdale, refusing Marlon Dingle bail after he was accused of murdering Graham Foster.

In 2017, she played a nurse on BBC soap EastEnders who referred Ian Beale to his GP after a health check.

Gail has also had appearances in Doctors, Casualty and Brief Encounters.

Fans of Holby City, Primeval and Peak Practice may also recognise her.

It's not yet known if DS Lomas will be back on the cobbles, as the walls continue to close in on killer Gary.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm on ITV.
