Today officially marks the 75th anniversary of VE Day which is also the reason why May's first bank holiday was moved to a Friday this year.
Back in 1945, Britain and its Allies celebrated the defeat of the Nazi regime.
Wartime Prime Minister Winston Churchill declared May 8 a public holiday and Victory in Europe (VE) Day was met with parties, dancing and singing in the streets.
Unfortunately these level of celebrations are unable to go ahead this year due to the current lockdown as a result of the coronavirus crisis but many households are still keen to decorate their home to mark the occasion.
With shops due to be busy today queues are likely as many stock up for bank holiday essentials - so thankfully one Aldi shopper has revealed how to make your own VE Day bunting using the store's carrier bags.

The idea, which has since gone viral, was shared by a mum on a popular Facebook group.
She said: "Kids wanted flags for VE Day Friday!!
"NO flags... NO problem! Aldi bag and a pair of scissors.... Sorted."
Our colleagues over at the MEN gave the hack ago and have confirmed it is really easy to do.
Method:
- Find a spare Aldi carrier bag (everyone will no doubt have several of these lying round the home)
- Cut out the Union Jack on the bag and find a stick to attach it to
- Tape the Union Jack to the stick
If you have several carrier bags you could cut multiple Union Jack's out and attached them to string to make your own bunting.
