When You Wish Upon A Star's Lapland trip saved after Thomas Cook collapse

More than 100 children with life-limiting illnesses have had their dream trip to Lapland saved.

Thomas Cook were set to send the 160 children from the Nottingham based charity - When You Wish Upon A Star this Christmas.

But when the company collapsed the children were left without a travel provider to take them to the once in a lifetime trip to the Arctic Circle.

Due to the special requirements of the children and their carers, a chartered flight must be used for the event.

But Thomson's (TUI UK) have stepped in to deliver the two flights of 80 children, 160 in total, on December 7.

Barbara White, founder of the charity, said: "We were getting panicky because we did not want to disappoint the children. It has been a last minute rush.

"TUI have done us proud. They have pulled out all the stops to enable us to make the two trips go ahead this year."

The charity has not lost any money as a result of Thomas Cook's collapse as they pay after the event.
