An Uber driver may have saved a woman from a pack of fake friends. After her friends spent the ride talking about her, the driver took to the internet in the hopes of finding a complete stranger to tell her the painful truth.
It’s a tale of love triangles, betrayal, and newfound friendship.
Tremaine Collins (@tremaineontv) is an Uber driver in Hermosa Beach, California. On the 4th of July, he says he picked up four of a woman’s friends. He recorded a video after dropping them off.
“OK, this video is for Rachel. I just had four of your ‘friends,'” Collins says, using air quotes, “in my Uber tonight.”
The so-called friends, he says, trashed Rachel throughout the ride.
One named Brittany admitted to sleeping with an ex, Wyatt, Collins says.
“She said you broke up with Wyatt and you went with a guy named Chase, so she felt like it was her opportunity to sleep with Wyatt because they always had a connection,” he alleges.
Another so-called friend had multiple negative things to say about Rachel, according to Collins.
“Melissa said that you don’t know how to dress, that she poured her heart out to you for your birthday, and she bought you some shoes and that you were ungrateful,” says Collins.
At the end of the ride, Collins says the four acknowledged that he had overheard all their “tea,” or gossip.
“I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m gonna tell her what you guys said,'” he says. “And they all bust out laughing.”
They may not have thought he was serious. He was.
“These are not your friends,” Collins says of the four in the TikTok. “So I hope this video finds you because they’re clearly not your friends.”
From an Uber driver’s lips to Rachel’s ears
Collins’ TikTok has 4.7 million views as of this writing. People were extremely invested in the story about the false friends and Rachel of Hermosa Beach, California.
“Am I Rachel?? No…. Do I live in Hermosa Beach?? Also no….But did I stay and listen to all the tea?? You betcha!!” wrote one.
Eventually, the TikTok found its way to its intended audience of one. Multiple posts and comments on both Collins’ and Rachel’s accounts confirm it.
The two even met up for dinner. During the meal, Collins asked Rachel some questions he and others had about the situation.
Rachel says she had previously suspected that Wyatt and Brittany hooked up. Brittany is purportedly now pregnant with Wyatt’s child. But Wyatt has supposedly also been sleeping with Chase.
She shares that the group became friends in college. Rachel says she even took them to Mexico for a birthday trip.
But all that’s over now, she says.
“I was heartbroken,” she says of learning about her friends’ purported betrayal, “But it is what it is.” She also says she is no longer going to be hanging out with that group.
As to why he shared hurtful gossip overheard from his fare, Collins says, “If this were my mom or if this were my sister, I would want somebody to tell me.”
During the ride, the women had also made some salacious claims about Rachel’s father’s business. She says it is “absolutely not” true that her dad does anything shady and that the women are just “jealous” of his success.
A friendship forged online
If people were invested in the saga before Rachel revealed herself, they became fully committed after she and Collins connected.
“I’ve never been this on time to TikTok drama,” one commented on a TikTok of Collins and Rachel finally meeting.
Another joked, “Rubbing my feet together because I’m ready for the messiness while I’m jumping back and forth from both pages.”
Collins has leaned into the interest by changing his bio to “Rachel’s Real Friend.” He also did a series of follow-ups about what he’s dubbed the “Real Fake Friends of Hermosa Beach.”
Rachel may have lost a few friends, but she’s gained at least one in Collins—plus thousands of defenders online. People agree that Rachel is better off now.
“Those girls were hating bc YOU ARE QUITE LITERALLY THAT GIRL.. effortlessly,” wrote one.
A second gushed, “Oh Rachel girl, I see why they were mad! You’re fine af!”
