When will the UK election results be announced? All the timings across England, Wales and Scotland

Note: The following timings are based on local authority forecasts, so are only a rough guide. When there have been discrepancies in past elections, the results have often been announced later rather than earlier.

English councils to watch

Southampton – Includes symbolic parliamentary seat (Southampton Itchen). Bad sign for Labour if it loses majority, probably to No Overall Control (NOC). Result expected 3am Friday.

Cannock Chase – Labour could lose majority to NOC.  Not counting until Friday morning (results will come from late morning onwards)

Crawley – Con target (from Lab). Expected 3am Friday

Dudley – Con target (from Lab). Expected 3am Friday

Redditch – Con target (from Lab).  Expected 3.30am Friday

Rossendale – Con target (from Lab). Counting Friday morning

Kirklees – Lab target (now  NOC). Counting Friday

Calderdale  – Lab target (now NOC). Counting Friday

Three Rivers – Con target (now NOC).  Counting Friday

Trafford – Con could lose majority to NOC. Expected 3.30am Friday

Plymouth – close fight between Lab and Con; Ukip could hold balance.  Expected 3am Friday

Thurrock – Ukip’s best shot.  Expected 3am Fri

Counting Friday. Figuring out the timings of the results is complicated due to the London Assembly elections being held at same time. Officially they are due between 4-6pm Friday, but in the past have been some hours later.
