There could finally be hope this week for those who have been desperately seeking a PS5 since before Christmas, as rumours suggest a huge UK stock drop is imminent.
The PS5 was launched in the UK back in November 2020, but many shoppers were disappointed in the frantic battle to get their hands on a console with only very limited stock available.
After pre-orders sold out in minutes and websites crashed for many of the major retailers, it has been a long wait for news of when the Playstation 5 would be available again.
Only Amazon had a fleeting restock in early December, and it's been pretty quiet ever since.
Twitter accounts which frequently keep an eye out for stock are claiming PS5 consoles could be dropping into stores this week, around January 13 or 14.
According to Twitter user @THEGAMEREVIEWS1, online retailer Argos should have stock on January 13 or 14, though no specific timings are available.
Stock can come and go in minutes so it's best to keep checking and to make sure you have accounts set up with the main retailers and a payment method ready to go.
We’ve taken a look at the latest updates from the retailer’s most likely to get stock, and here’s what we found:
John Lewis
A statement on the John Lewis website said: "Thank you to everyone who has visited us and placed an order for a PS5. We are now out of stock.
"Unfortunately, PlayStation 5 consoles will not be available for purchase at our John Lewis & Partners shops or from our contact centres."
Very
Online retailer Very shared a statement to its website , which reads: "Unfortunately we have sold out of our PS5 consoles for now. We have more stock coming so keep checking back for our next drop."
Argos
Argos has not listed an update on when shoppers can expect more stock.
AO
A note on AO's website says: "Sorry, Playstation 5 is currently unavailable."
Amazon
Despite some stock being available last week, Amazon 's website now says the retailer does not know "when or if" the PS5 will be back in stock.
Smyths
Smyths has now sold out of its allocated stock. A message on the retailer's website says that PS5 stock is now not expected until January 2021, meaning a restock could be arriving any day now.
According to Twitter user @MoonzUGN, who frequently shares PS5 stock updates, Smyths is expecting stock this month.
Game
Game no longer has PS5 stock available, with no update on when new stock will arrive.
Though, as one of the leading gaming retailers on the market, we’d expect Game to be among the first to have new stock.
Currys
A note on Curry's website says the retailer is "working tirelessly to secure more stock" and customers should check back for updates.

A good source of info for a devoted searcher will be the Stockinformer website, which has a constantly updated list of stock inventory for the major sites.
At the moment, their only listed pre-order site is, interestingly, eBay, and certainly it is possible to find plenty of listings for the PS5 on the UK eBay site right now.
The prices of these consoles however are adifferent matter so it depends just how keen you are to get your hands on a unit straight away.
With prices hovering around the £999 mark - double the UK RRP for the new PS5 - only the hardcore gamer with plenty of savings will be splashing out on an eBay purchase at this point.
