When will Snapchat be back up and how long has it been down?

The messaging app Snapchat has crashed and is not working for users.

The app, which allows users to share images, went down around lunchtime on Wednesday.

Snapchat Support has put out a statement on Twitter saying: "We're aware that some Snapchatters are having issues using the app right now - hang tight, we're looking into it."

Users who are having trouble accessing the app have used Down Detector to report the issue, with the site showing a high of 13,844 outages reported at approximately 12:23pm. The number of reports of outages also reached 10,514 at approximately 1:38pm.

Snapchatters have been leaving comments about their issues with accessing the app via the site, with one saying that they are unable to message anyone via Snapchat, while another user described the situation as "ridiculous."

A post from someone listed as 'Snapchat Admin' said the service "will shortly be back up and running" and added: "Please log out and log back in in the meantime to refresh your connection."

Users have complained about the outage on other social media platforms.

"Anyone else's Snapchat down?" one user wrote on Twitter.

"Snapchat's been down an hour and I feel lost," another wrote.

The company has not yet commented on the reason of the outage or when the app will be back up and running.

The outage follows after a major service issue took over Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and messenger offline.
