When will Liverpool and Merseyside walk-in centres be open over Christmas?

With Christmas just around the corner, we all hope to be in good spirits - and good health.

But if you do find yourself feeling poorly over the festive period, help is at hand.

Whether you need over the counter medicines, a prescription or whether you just need to seek advice on mental or physical health conditions, there are a number of NHS services available to you over the Christmas and New Year holidays.

The NHS in Liverpool is reminding people that local services are still under considerable pressure as a result of Covid-19, and that they can help by planning ahead and taking care of their health this winter.

GP practices will be open up to and including Christmas Eve, but will be closed over the Christmas weekend and Bank Holidays from December 25-28, and again over New Year from January 1-3, 2022.

They will open as normal on December 29, 30, and 31.

NHS Walk-in Centres in Liverpool, Sefton and Knowsley will continue to be open daily over Christmas, including on Christmas Day.

If you need to see a GP over the Christmas period, here’s the opening hours for walk-in centres in Liverpool and Merseyside:

Liverpool

Walk-in centres in Old Swan, on Smithdown Road, and in Garston (SLTC) are open every day from December 24-January 2, 8am-8pm

The centre on David Lewis Street (The Beat) is also open daily from 8am-8pm except on Christmas Day when it will be closed.

Wirral

Eastham walk-in centre will be open Monday-Sunday, 12-8pm, including all bank holidays except Christmas Day.

The Victoria Central walk-in site will be open seven days a week, including Christmas Day, from 8am-8pm.

X-ray facilities will be open from 8am – 7.30pm.

Arrowe Park Urgent Treatment Centre is also open throughout the festive period, including Christmas Day itself.

Its opening hours are 8am-10pm.

Sefton

Sefton's only walk-in centre (Litherland) is open 8am-8pm every day over the Christmas period.

Knowsley

Walk-in centres at Huyton, Halewood and Kirkby will be open every day until the New Year.

These are generally open 8am-8.30pm Monday to Saturday and 10am-8.30pm on Sundays and bank holidays.

Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day will be subject to the bank holiday opening hours.

St Helens

The walk-in at the Millennium Centre (Corporation Street) will be open 7am-10pm Monday to Saturday and 9am-10pm on Sundays.

On Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day it will be open from 9am-9pm.

What other medical help is available?

A number of pharmacies will be open on Christmas Day and other bank holidays over the Christmas and New Year period.

You can find a chemist near you on the NHS website.

Alternatively, for urgent advice, call NHS 111, who can offer advice or refer you to a local out-of-hours GP if you need one.
