Budget chain Lidl will be opening some stores on New Year's Day - but it will depend on which part of the UK you are based.
If you're planning to head to your local store today, it is worth noting that many stores outside of London, including those in Scotland and Wales, will be closed on 1 January.
However, from 2 January all Lidl UK stores will resume normal opening hours.
Shoppers will be able to check accurate opening times for their local store online using the store finder tool on Lidl's website.

31st December - all stores in London (inside M25) will open from 8am to 8pm. All stores across the rest of the UK will open from 8am to 6pm.

1st January - all stores in London (inside M25)will open from 10am to 7pm. All other stores across the rest of the UK will be closed.

2nd January - all stores open normal hours

Other stores such as John Lewis and Argos will also be shut, along with many non-essential retailers that have been forced to closed according to government guidelines.
With Tier 4 restrictions in place across many parts of the UK, many more shoppers will be forced to buy online due to harsher rules. While essential retailers such as supermarkets will stay open, there are some rules to be aware of.
