When will it get warm again? Forecast for the end of the month and beyond

Over the last few weeks, temperatures in London got as high as the mid-20s.

It’s been an unseasonably warm start to spring and, as summer gets closer, Londoners are clamouring for a return to the warm temperatures again.

The UK has already experienced more than 500 hours of sunshine this spring — more than the whole of last summer.

However, now that the sunshine has dipped somewhat, Londoners returned to grey skies, mid-range temperatures and even showers throughout the Easter bank holiday weekend.

Here’s a look at when the capital can expect warm temperatures again throughout the end of the month and into June, according to the Met Office.

When will it get warm again?

Temperatures are set to hit 25 degrees in the capital on Friday and remain that high into Saturday - which some are dubbing a mini heatwave.

However, this isn’t quite the return to the sunny days of a couple of weeks ago, with cloud predicted for those days as well.

The Met Office also predicts scattered heavy showers on Saturday, although the temperatures will remain higher than usual.

As we move into June, the south of the UK, including London, is expected to see longer, drier interludes, with temperatures expected to remain around normal overall.

There is also the possibility of some very warm, perhaps hot conditions developing, as well as the chance of thunderstorms, so Londoners should be prepared for all weather conditions for the first couple of weeks in June.

What is the average temperature for this time of the year?

That said, the Met Office’s average maximum temperature for May is 19 degrees, so conditions are still warmer than usual.

Looking ahead to June, the capital usually experiences highs of 22 degrees, so if the Met Office holds true with temperatures climbing to just above average, we can likely expect some days in the mid-20s.
