When will driving tests resume in England following roadmap announcement?

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced the roadmap of easing England out of the latest national coronavirus restrictions.

And the nation will be brought out of measures in gradual stages.

Step one sees schools and colleges reopen from March 8.

And then the rule of six returns on March 29 or, alternatively, two households can mix outdoors. Indoor mixing remains prohibited. Organised sports and outdoor leisure resumes at this point.

The government said at least five weeks after Step one, no earlier than April 12, there will be further relaxing of restrictions in Step two.

On this date, indoor leisure will reopen for individuals or household groups, along with libraries and community centres, hairdressers and personal care, non-essential retail and outdoor attractions and outdoor hospitality.

Overnight stays will be allowed for households along with self-contained accommodation.

And it announced that "activities such as driving tests may also resume" at this point.

All newly-open settings must abide by the social contact rules and the government warned it will continue to enforce restrictions and require businesses to demonstrate robust strategies for managing the risk of transmission and ensuring social distancing rules are followed.

The government said that around four weeks is required in between stages to see the impact of the previous step in the data and the government is committed to providing a further week's notice to businesses.
