If you are heading out to Asda on New Year's Eve or New Year's Day, it is advisable to check opening times first.
The 1 January is officially a Bank Holiday in England and Wales, so Asda will be operating reduced opening hours at most stores.
The New Year also means the January sales have also started at Asda stores, with discounts on George clothing and homeware ranges as well as selected appliances.
Asda shoppers can check full opening time details for their local branch by using the store locator tool online.
Shoppers can also check opening times for all other major UK supermarkets in our guide too.
Asda New Year opening times
31 December - Most larger stores will open from 6am to 7pm
1 January - Most stores open from 10am to 5pm
2 January - all stores open normal hours
3 January - all stores open normal Sunday trading hours
Many areas across the UK are now under the strictest Tier 4 rules including Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham as of New Year's Eve.
In response the supermarket giant has been taking extra precautions to keep shoppers and staff safe. Shoppers heading into store can expect automatic customer counting systems to limit numbers, virtual queuing and stepped up cleaning.
Ahead of the Christmas break, Asda announced it would not to open its 631 stores across the UK on Boxing Day. The chain's chief executive, Roger Burnley announced the decision commenting: "This is of course our busiest time of year, but it was important for us to give as many of you as possible the opportunity to spend this time with those loved ones that you may not have seen for many months so, uniquely for this year, we will not reopen our stores until 27 December."
The chain was joined by other major brands, including Waitrose, John Lewis, M&S and Wickes, which decided to also close on December 26.
