When West Ham hope to return to training at Rush Green after coronavirus closure

West Ham are hopeful that their players will be able to return to training at Rush Green later this week after the facility in Dagenham was shutdown following the coronavirus outbreak.

Rush Green, Chadwell Heath and Little Heath have all been closed to the players and staff since last Friday after the COVID-19 outbreak began to affect football with the Premier League being suspended for the next two matchweeks.

All of the facilities have undergone deep cleans since then, especially considering the Hammers first team players will have been at Rush Green in the aftermath of their defeat to Arsenal.

Gunners manager Mikel Arteta was revealed to have contracted the virus last Thursday and the previous visiting team to the Emirates were West Ham.

Manager David Moyes was placed in quarantine for seven days as of last Saturday, which has now ended, after coming into contact with Arteta but he has shown no signs of symptoms and has been given the all clear.

Any decision on what day the Hammers players can return to their training ground will be influenced by the meeting of the Premier League, clubs and stakeholders on Thursday, where they will discuss what they will be doing going forward.

The Hammers players have been given their own individual training regimes, much like they received during the recent winter break, where each player can keep themselves sharp.

We have seen Tomas Soucek running through woods, Andriy Yarmolenko heading to a park near Canning Town and Manuel Lanzini training at his home on social media in the last couple of days as they players attempt to keep themselves in decent nick despite not knowing when they could be playing again.

The Premier League has been suspended until April 4 at the earliest, so West Ham's next game may not be until the visit of Chelsea to Stratford on April 5. But, if it is decided at the meeting on Thursday, the league could be postponed longer.

UEFA are also holding a meeting on Tuesday to discuss their own progress going forward and it could be the case that this summer's European Championships are postponed to allow league campaigns across Europe to finish.
