When Venkatapathy Raju and Javagal Srinath ran five runs off one ball against Australia in Adelaide - Watch

NEW DELHI: On Sunday, an extraordinary and rare incident unfolded on Day 4 of the one-off Test between Ireland and Zimbabwe at the Civil Service Cricket Club in Belfast. Ireland batters Lorcan Tucker and Andy McBrine completed an all-run five during their team's second innings, sparking widespread excitement on social media.

The video of this unusual feat quickly went viral, reminding cricket fans of a similar incident from 1992.

Thirty two years ago, in a match between India and Australia at the Adelaide Oval, India's No.10 and No.11 batters, Venkatapathy Raju and Javagal Srinath, also achieved an all-run five, a moment that has now resurfaced and captivated audiences once again.

In the recent Ireland vs Zimbabwe match, Ireland was chasing a target of 158 and found themselves in a dire situation at 21/5 inside six overs. Tucker (56) and McBrine (55*) combined to lift Ireland to victory.

The rare all-run five occurred in the 18th over when McBrine punched a delivery from Zimbabwe's left-arm seamer Richard Ngarava through the covers. Zimbabwe fielder Tendai Chatara chased the ball and managed to stop it just inside the ropes.

The viral video of this incident brought to mind the 1992 match between India and Australia at the Adelaide Oval.

During India’s first innings, Srinath drove a pitch-up delivery from Australia's fast bowler Craig McDermott through the off-side. Allan Border, fielding at mid-off, chased the ball as it raced towards the boundary. Border managed to save the boundary, but the Indian tailenders Raju and Srinath ran five, marking a rare achievement in cricket history.
