When Universal Credit, tax credits and child benefit will be paid over May bank holidays

The next two bank holiday's of the year are just around the corner and with extra days off can come extra expenses.

So any monetary boost can come in useful.

But the extra-long weekends also cause a bit of hassle as to how and when the government pays various benefits into people's bank accounts.

Luckily, this doesn't mean a delay to child benefits, Universal Credit and tax credits and instead they'll be paid at an earlier date.

Families who receive child benefits or tax credits will see their money paid out on different dates before the bank holiday weekends.

This will affect people receiving working tax credits, child benefit and other tax credit - although other types of benefit payments should go ahead as normal.

This is when Universal Credit, tax credits and child benefit will be paid over the two May bank holiday's .

  • Monday May 6 2019 - Paid: Friday May 3 2019
  • Monday May 27 2019 - Paid: Friday May 24 2019

If your payment is late, HMRC advises people to check the payment date on their award notice and contact their bank. If you still have no luck, you can call the Tax Credit Helpline on 0345 300 3900 . But make sure you do this before the bank holiday as they are closed.
