When Troy Parrott could get his chance in Mauricio Pochettino's team for the very first time

The calls for Troy Parrott to be given his chance in the Tottenham side have gone up another notch after his goal for the Republic of Ireland U21s on Friday evening.

Making his debut for the team after previously representing his country at U17 and U19 level, the 17-year-old netted the only goal of the game with a close-range finish against Armenia.

Parrott has made quite an impression for Spurs' youngsters over the past 12 months after hitting goals for fun and his latest strike has certainly got supporters talking.

But when could we see him in action for the very first time?

Having impressed for the Lilywhites in pre-season after travelling to Asia and Germany for their friendlies, the striker has yet to make Mauricio Pochettino's squad this campaign despite the lack of attacking options available to the manager.

While both Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura are capable of playing through the middle as they have done for the team plenty of times in the past, Fernando Llorente's summer exit means that Tottenham are rather light upfront.

Mauricio Pochettino makes FIFA The Best shortlist

There's a very good chance Parrott's chance could come later this month when Spurs travel to Colchester United for their Carabao Cup third round tie.

The manager does elect to shuffle his pack for the cup and he has handed a few youngsters their debuts in the competition in years gone by.

Marcus Edwards, who this week left the club for Portugal, made his debut against Gillingham in September 2016, while just over 12 months ago Oliver Skipp made his Spurs bow in the 3-1 cup win over West Ham.

As Harry Kane will more than likely be rested for the game, fans may get their wish and see Parrott potentially start from the very first whistle.

There's also a chance that the hotshot could be involved a week earlier as Tottenham begin their Champions League campaign at Olympiacos following his inclusion in Pochettino's squad.

Going on his progression in north London over the past year, we are definitely going to be seeing a lot more of Parrott over the coming months.
