When the Premier League will announce TV fixtures as Leeds United await news of Man United trip

It's one of the most eagerly anticipated dates of a football fans' summer calendar and Wednesday morning's fixture release did not disappoint for Leeds United fans.

Marcelo Bielsa's men have been handed an opening day trip to Manchester United in what is one of the blockbuster fixtures of the upcoming 2021-22 campaign's opening slate.

The trip to Old Trafford gives Leeds an early opportunity to avenge last year's 6-2 defeat and Whites' supporters will be hoping that the fixture will also present them with their first away day for 18 months, with the Premier League confirming that they are committed to filling stadiums again from the start of the new season.

If so, tickets will be at a premium, meaning many fans will have to make do with watching their side on television.

The Premier League has not yet announced their opening slate of televised fixtures, but it is hard to imagine that the opening weekend will not feature Marcelo Bielsa's men on the box, with their fixture and Manchester City's trip to Tottenham the two most high profile matches.

Fans won't have long to wait to discover if and when Leeds' opening day match will be televised, as the Premier League have confirmed that broadcast selections for the month of August will be announced by Monday 21 June.

While the trip to Old Trafford is a shoe-in, Leeds' Elland Road opener against Everton is another high-profile match that could see Sky Sports and BT Sports mobilise and bring their cameras to West Yorkshire. The other marquee fixture on that second weekend is Chelsea's trip to Arsenal.

Leeds end August with an away match against Burnley at Turf Moor, currently scheduled for 3pm on Saturday August 28.
