When the next Sky Sports fixtures will be announced - and how it could affect Leeds United

Leeds United will soon find out if the home tie against local rivals Huddersfield Town will get moved to be screened on Sky Sports.

The Whites' recent slump in form and derby aspect of the tie definitely increases the possibility of a kick-off change on Saturday, March 7.

Although the amount of Leeds United's fixtures shown on Sky Sports has dropped, fans will be able to watch two televised games in February - the away fixture against Nottingham Forest on February 8 is a featured game, plus the fixture at Griffin Park against Brentford on February 11 will be available via the red button.

Sky are giving less notice than usual for the Huddersfield match and will announce if it's on television by February 7th - just four weeks before the game.

This is the first fixture for which there is a four week notice period rather than the standard five weeks agreed in the Domestic Broadcast Agreement between Sky Sports and the EFL. All fixtures from this point on are subject to the same four week notice period until the penultimate weekend of the season when it drops to three weeks' notice.

Anyone planning to travel to watch the West Yorkshire derby would be advised to wait until the announcement has been made on February 7 before confirming plans.

Before they host Huddersfield, Leeds United face a tough schedule in February - there are seven Championship matches scheduled for the shortest month of the year, including away trips to two of the league's current top six.

In the reverse fixture in December, Leeds came away with a 2-0 victory with second half goals from Gjanni Alioski and Pablo Hernandez.
