When the Grand National 2019 runners will be confirmed

The list of Grand National 2019 runners and riders has been whittled down to 69 as of today's five-day declarations but it still has to be reduced to 40 horses ahead of Saturday's big race at Aintree Racecourse .

This is the maximum field on the day and is likely to be the total number of runners unless there are any late withdrawals.

The final declarations will take place at 10am on Thursday, April 4, 2019 - the first day of the Grand National festival.

If there are any withdrawals after that then reserve horses can join the race to take their place.

We will be bringing you updates on the runners and riders - as well as following the races in detail - throughout the three-day meeting in the Echo's Grand National section .
