Spring forward, fall back. The pessimist in you might be upset to find out we're shortly going to lose an hour of sleep. However, the optimist will surely rejoice at the prospect of the return of those long, light summer nights.
Yes, it's that time of year again. It doesn't seem that long ago that we turned the clocks back an hour, plunging us into a particularly dark and bleak winter this time round.
And this weekend, we'll put the clocks forward as we embrace British Summer Time.
Here's everything you need to know.
When do the clocks actually go forward?
The change happens in the last weekend of March every year. This means that the clocks will go forward at 1am on Sunday, March 28.
Why do they go forward and not back at this time of year?
As the saying goes, spring forward, fall back. When the clocks go forward in March we go into British Summer Time and abandon Greenwich Mean Time for seven months. This allows for the long, summer nights we all look forward to in Glasgow.
Will my phone update automatically?
As for technology, as long as your phones are connected to the internet via 4G or WiFi then the time will change on them automatically. They should change at 1am on Sunday, March 31 by going forward an hour.
When do the clocks go back again?
The clocks will not change again until Halloween, as it happens this year, October 31 2021, when the clocks move back to GMT for winter.
