It's a debate that seems to crop up every year...which day should you take down your Christmas decorations?
Some have the tree down and the tinsel back in the loft the minute Christmas is over on Boxing Day, while others are nearing February before they finally get around to the task.
However, according to tradition, you should have your decorations down by Saturday, January 5.

This is because the Twelfth Night is considered the last day of Christmas and when we should take our decorations down.
According to superstition it is bad luck to keep them on display 12 days after Christmas Day.
This belief stems back to the olden days when people used to decorate their homes with ivy and holly.
They used to think tree spirits lived in the greenery and made sure all their festive ornaments and trimmings were taken down in the first week of the new year to set them free.
If the custom wasn't followed it was said to affect the vegetation and greenery for the next twelve months.
So there you have it - get your decorations down by January 5, or run the risk of your house plants being doomed for the year ahead!
