When rain will end the heatwave in Leeds this week

It's been a boiling hot few days in Leeds after a drizzly and colder July than what we'd all hope for.

The Met Office currently predicts a very hot few days with warm and dry weather in Leeds - so expect more sun and get your lotion ready!

But when is rain next expected in the city?

Temperatures will remain high throughout the rest of the month, with potential of rain in August.

Here is a day-by-day weather forecast for Leeds this week.

Tuesday: Sunny throughout the day with light winds. 28C.

Wednesday: Sunny intervals and a gentle breeze. 25C.

Thursday: Sunny intervals and a gentle breeze. 25C.

Friday: Light cloud and a gentle breeze. 21C.

Saturday: Light rain and a moderate breeze. 20C. But the rain is predicted to be a 40% chance, starting at 7pm and running into Sunday. So it might not rain at all!

Sunday: Sunday is technically the start of a new week, and on Sunday, the sunny conditions could home to a screeching halt with thunder 60% likely from 4pm on Sunday afternoon. Although temperatures are going to stay high at 22C, it's a far cry from the 30C temperatures we've had recently.

When the heatwave will end

The Met Office says “warmer and drier than average conditions are most likely” for the final week of July.

However, temperatures will drop notably this weekend to the early 20s, which will bring relief to those sweltering in temperatures at the moment which are closer to 30C. So the heatwave as we've known it will be over.

But it could come back in August.

The Met Office adds: "The occasional unsettled spell of weather is still possible, particularly over north-western areas, but overall most places will probably be mostly fine and dry. Temperatures are expected to rise above average.

“Into early August, warmer and drier-than-average conditions look likely to return for much of the UK, although there is an increased risk of thunderstorms, especially in the southeast.

"By mid-August confidence becomes rather low, but with changeable conditions most likely. Above-average temperatures continue to be signalled for much of the period, perhaps becoming very warm or hot at times in the south."
