When Premier League TV fixtures are decided - and which channels have the rights

The 2019/20 Premier League season is edging closer with the announcement of fixtures for next term.

It seems like yesterday Manchester City were lifting the title after pipping Liverpool to the post on the final day of the season.

But focus is already shifting to next term with all eyes on the big reveal of the Premier League fixtures.

Teams will be looking out for the key matches against their rivals, the games they face over the festive period and who they open up against.

Of course, every match over the course of the season is subject to change for live TV coverage.

When are TV fixtures decided?

There are not set dates for when the TV fixtures are decided.

However, based on last season, they are likely to be announced about four weeks before the start of the season.

That means an announcement should come at the start of July for the first batch across August and September.

Which channels have the rights?

Sky Sports and BT Sport will once again lead the way for live TV coverage next season.

But Amazon have joined the party for 2019/20 as they begin their £90m deal.

How many matches do they have?

Sky Sports will dominated the coverage with 128 matches over the course of the campaign.

They are due to screen 32 matches at 5.30pm on a Saturday, and the same amount at 2pm and 4.30pm on a Sunday.

A further eight matches will be shown at 7.45pm on Saturday nights plus 24 ties on Monday and Friday nights.

BT Sport will keep their regular slot at 12.30pm on a Saturday with 32 matches and a further 20 midweek games.

Amazon Prime will show 20 matches each season - spread over two rounds of fixtures.

All 10 Boxing Day encounters will be shown as well as a round of midweek matches in December.
