When Nottingham's Black Orchid nightclub hosted Top of the Pops

These archive photos give a glimpse into the glamorous side of one of Nottingham's legendary nightclubs.

The Black Orchid Club was, once upon a time, the place to go for thousands of Nottingham's clubbers and the building surely has many a tale to tell.

It was regularly the scene of live performances from celebrities and big music acts of the day, including Tom Jones and Take That.

The club, which went on to become ISIS nightclub for a time, closed its doors for the final time on January 10th 1998 after being a Midlands icon for more than two decades.

Photos from the club's heyday give a glimpse of the club's status as cultural icon, being the top venue across the Midlands for huge acts to appear and TV shows to be filmed.

Top of the Pops visited the club, with clubbers flocking to be part of the live crowd.

Pop act and dancers for DJ Jean can be seen in the photos above, with pop singer of the late 90s Lolly, who was from Sutton Coldfield, seen performing below.

Before closing and reinventing itself as ISIS, Black Orchid building off Redfield Way, attracted party goers from all over the country.

ISIS closed in 2009 after being reports of numerous violent incidents.
