When MET Office forecasters expect rain to return to Nottingham

Rain is not expected to hold off for long in Nottingham, with showers forecast for the start of August.

The Met Office predicts rain to hit the area in the early hours of Sunday, August 1.

The downpour is expected to arrive at 5am and stay until 7am, with a cloudy but warm and dry forecast for the remainder of the day. Temperatures are predicted to peak at around 18C.

It rounds off a dull week in terms of weather, which has seen the county experience glimpses of sunshine and heavy rain.

The Met Office forecast for Sunday says: “A few outbreaks of rain possible during the morning before early cloud across northern parts breaks and lifts.

"Otherwise variable cloud and sunny spells through the day, and mostly dry. Maximum temperature 21C.”

Showers may also threaten throughout the early part of next week, with the outlook for Monday to Wednesday reading: “Often rather cloudy Monday with showers, but some sunny spells also possible.

"Likely drier Tuesday and Wednesday with sunny spells, variable cloud and just the odd light shower possible.”
