When man who killed his neighbour in Easton will finally be sentenced

A man who admitted killing a neighbour in Easton will be sentenced next month.

Bashir Abdullah, 32, died after being stabbed at a property in Lansdowne Court in January 2019.

Following an investigation by Avon and Somerset Constabulary's Major Crime Investigation Team, Jamal Sheik-Mohammed, of Lansdowne Court, was charged with his murder.

The case of Sheik-Mohammed, 53, was heard at Bristol Crown Court on June 25 last year and, though he denied murder, he pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

The case was mentioned today (Friday, July 24)at Bristol Crown Court.

In the hearing The Recorder of Bristol His Honour Judge Peter Blair QC discharged an interim hospital order under Section 38 of the Mental Health Act.

He remanded Mohammed in custody, pending sentence on August 14, and reserved the case to himself.

The judge will look at all aspects of the case to determine either a mental health disposal or life term.

Previously Andrew Langdon QC, defending, said doctors concluded Sheik-Mohammed's mental state diminished responsibility for the killing.
