When Man City players will return to training

Manchester City players and staff are set to return to training at the CFA for their first sessions in over two months.

Premier League clubs voted unanimously for players to return to training this week. A total of 748 tests were carried out over the weekend and City players arrived at allocated times to receive their tests.

The Premier League confirmed they received six positive tests from three clubs during the first phase of mass testing but MEN Sport understands no City players or staff tested positive.

City players were scheduled to return to the training complex today in line with the Premier League guidelines, although it wasn't known whether they would begin training today. Players must adhere to social distancing guidelines and contact training is forbidden.

The Premier League has not confirmed a date for its restart, with 92 fixtures still to be played but are targeting a return to action in June.

Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling believes players will need at least a month of full training before fixtures can begin.

He said last week: "You can’t come back in with one-and-a-half or two weeks [of training].

"You’d need a full four to five weeks, especially if you’re going to go back into competition, when you’re literally paid to win. You do need to do that preparation – you can’t just go straight in."
