When Man City players and Pep Guardiola will be first asked about Champions League ban

Manchester City have opted against putting on any media activity the day before their Premier League match with West Ham United.

Clubs are normally required to hold a press conference on a Monday or Tuesday no later than 1.30pm for a Wednesday game. However, there are extenuating circumstances as this match is a rearranged fixture having been called off on the day of the game.

Because both clubs had conducted press conferences prior to the original date, they do not need to speak again and so are not putting on another one the day before the game. Despite the fact that the West Ham game was originally cancelled, Pep Guardiola's press conference was still broadcast in full and his interview with Sky that would have ran ahead of the game was still made public.

The decision not to hold another round of media means that the first time Guardiola will be asked in public about UEFA's ban will be on Sky ahead of the game on Wednesday night. There is due to be half an hour of coverage ahead of the 7.30pm kick-off.

Following the match, a player and the manager are scheduled to give interviews to broadcasters; the manager will then give a press conference where the written media will have their first chance to ask for his thoughts while the players will be able to stop to speak to journalists should they choose to.

How much is said remains to be seen - City have offered little comment since the beginning of the investigation - but Wednesday evening is expected to be the first time Guardiola is put on the spot in public.
