When Man City can win the Premier League title after Manchester United vs Liverpool FC postponed

Manchester City's champagne continues to be put on ice after they were denied the chance to win the Premier League title this weekend after Manchester United's game against Liverpool was postponed.

City beat Crystal Palace on Saturday to move 13 points clear of United, who have five games left. Had United lost to Liverpool on Sunday, they would have sealed the title for City.

However, protests throughout the afternoon at Old Trafford against United's ownership saw fans gain access to the stadium and pitch, scuffle with police, and also prevent the team coaches from leaving the Lowry Hotel in the city centre.

As a result, the decision was taken to postpone the game due to safety and security breaches, as well as possible breaches of United's Covid-19 rules in place on a matchday.

That means City will have to wait to win the Premier League, but not for long.

City need just two points to seal their fourth title in five years, and their next opportunity will be at home to Chelsea on Saturday (5.30pm kick off) - that is unless the Premier League manage to reschedule the United vs Liverpool game for before then.

Even if City dropped points against Chelsea, they could wrap up the title next weekend as long as United don't better their result against Aston Villa on Sunday.

Pep Guardiola said after the Palace win that he wanted to win the title 'as soon as possible' when asked if he would prefer to seal it against Chelsea or with United losing, so he now knows that the next opportunity will be this coming Saturday.

If the title isn't sealed next weekend, City have following fixtures against Newcastle, Brighton and Everton to secure the two points needed.
