When longer days will be here as March sees first 7:30pm sunset of the year

Between storms 'Dudley', 'Eunice' and Franklin all hitting within weeks of one another followed by almost exclusively cold and rainy days we are all crying out for some better weather. This weekend has been the first one where Bristol has seen some sunshine which has not been accompanied by biting wind.

The nicer weather has us looking forward to summer evenings and longer days and happily they're much closer than you may think. By the end of this month the sun will not set until have 7:30pm. This is partly due to the clocks changing on Mother's Day, but after March the sunset will be happening one hour later each month until mid-June.

While some mums may be disappointed to learn the clocks will be going forward, so we lose an hour, on the day they traditionally get a lie in the sun is not going to set until 7:35pm which may make up for it. It may even be warm enough for a glass of wine in the garden - at least we hope so.

May - 21:16
