When Liverpool can win the Premier League after Man City beat Burnley

Liverpool could wrap up the Premier League title at the home of Manchester City, but Chelsea could play a hand in sending the trophy to Anfield before then.

After a dull goalless draw at Goodison Park, Jurgen Klopp’s men face Crystal Palace at Anfield on Wednesday.

And if Liverpool beat Palace and City win their next two Premier League matches, Klopp and his team will complete formalities if they avoid defeat when they travel to the Etihad on Thursday week.

City beat Burnley on Monday night, meaning Liverpool cannot clinch their first title in 30 years on Wednesday.

But Pep Guardiola's side must navigate a tricky trip to Stamford Bridge on Thursday to stay mathematically in the race when Liverpool come to town next week.

City must beat Chelsea on Thursday night at Stamford Bridge to continue to delay the title party, assuming Liverpool take all three points against Palace.

But when the two sides meet at the Etihad Liverpool would then only need a point to end their wait for a league title.

Defeat at the home of City was the Reds only league defeat last term and should a repeat happen Liverpool's champagne will remain on ice.

But even still, it remains a case of when, not if, Klopp's side manage to win the title.

Both Manchester clubs share the record for winning the title with the most games to spare.

United did so in the 1999/2000 season under Sir Alex Ferguson while Pep Guardiola's centurions did so two years ago.

Even if Liverpool don't wrap up the title in Manchester on July 2 they can also equal the record against Aston Villa at Anfield three days later.
