When Liverpool and Everton will play the 2020/21 Premier League Merseyside derbies

Everton and Liverpool fans have learned when the next Merseyside derbies will take place following the release of the 2020/21 Premier League fixtures.

The delayed new campaign will begin on the weekend of the 12/13 September following the late finish to the previous term caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Merseyside encounter is the most played derby match in English football with the Reds and Blues have previously met 227 times in competitive action.

The most recent derby was the first match either club following the three month suspension to the season caused by Covid-19 and finished in a goalless draw at Goodison Park on 21 June.

Liverpool won the earlier fixture 5-2 at Anfield in early December and the Blues have not won a derby since October 2010 when they triumphed 2-0 at Goodison, the Reds leading the overall tally with 95 victories to the Blues' 66 with 75 draws.

The 237th Merseyside derby will take place on the weekend beginning Saturday 17 October at Goodison, which - if the date is not moved for television - would mark exactly ten years to the day since Everton's last victory over Liverpool.

The return match is set to take place at Anfield on the weekend of Saturday 20 February 2021.

Everton begin the Premier League campaign with an away trip to Tottenham Hotspur, while Liverpool entertain newly-promoted Leeds United at Anfield.
