When Leeds bin collections will happen after Tuesday collections cancelled due to snow

Bin collections have been cancelled in Leeds following heavy snow and difficult conditions on the roads.

Leeds City Council announced this morning that bin collections were suspended due to the bad weather.

The authority added that they will try to collect missed bins over the next two days and black bins will be prioritised.

But bins that aren’t collected by Thursday will be collected in the next collection.

Due to the snow, all libraries and community hubs in the city are closed today.

Household Waste and Recycling Centres are also closed but they are expected to open tomorrow [Wednesday] but bookings from today will need to be rebooked.

In a statement posted by the council, they said: “Due to the very heavy snow this morning and subsequent difficult conditions on roads and paths, on public safety grounds, bin collections have been suspended for the day.

“Also closed today following the bad weather are all libraries and community hubs in the city. Please keep an eye on the council’s social media channels for further updates regarding the potential resumption of bin collections and facilities reopening.

“In terms of any bin collections that have been missed, we will try and collect missed bins over the next two days and will be prioritising black bins. However, if your bin is not collected by Thursday then please take it in and wait until the next collection.

They continued: “In addition, all Household Waste and Recycling Centres will remain closed all day. We fully expect them all to be open tomorrow. Any bookings from today will need to be rebooked. We apologise for any inconvenience caused but site safety is always our priority.

“Leeds City Council staff will be continuing to work throughout the day to ensure that primary routes in the city and areas around key facilities such as vaccination centres continue to be gritted.”
